Brilliantly vivid. Effortlessly intuitive. The all-new ELEMNT ACE is Wahoo’s largest and most powerful bike computer
(London, Tuesday 3rd December 2024) – Wahoo Fitness, the leading fitness technology company for endurance athletes announces an addition to its range with the launch of ELEMNT ACE, a new category-defining cycling computer.
As smartphone technology has constantly evolved and improved over the years, so too have the expectations of consumers. The Wahoo ELEMNT ACE will change the way riders think about cycling computers, meeting the needs of today’s riders, by combining the size and usability of a smartphone, with the fit-for-purpose form factor and features of a bike computer.
- A super-sized, Best-In-Class Screen: that will be largest in category, with best-in-class TFT screen to enable better visibility for navigation and data visualisation
- Up to 30+ hour Battery Life: this will keep riders connected and informed from start to finish.
- CATEGORY FIRST – Integrated Wind Sensor: introducing Wahoo Wind Dynamics™ (WWD) to measure the effects of air resistance in real time and post ride, to quantify how wind and drafting are impacting your ride and measure one of cycling’s most critical forces
- Improved User Experience: new touchscreen to complement buttons for ease of use, plus brand new modern operating system to make it easier than ever to control your ride, and a premium aluminium mount included
- Enhanced Navigation: improved mapping features and turn by turn audio navigation to allow riders to navigate with confidence and ease
- Easier, More intuitive Setup and Sync via the Wahoo App: new cloud-based sync, for a seamless, simple and intuitive user experience where all of a user’s data is stored in Wahoo’s cloud as a single, always backed up source
Enhanced Navigation: When it comes to navigation, modern cycling computers often fall short of consumer expectations set by platforms like Google and Apple Maps, but Wahoo is raising the bar with enhanced navigation capabilities. Drawing inspiration from motoring navigation systems, Wahoo introduces voice turn-by-turn directions to the ELEMNT ACE, reducing reliance on the screen, improving safety and helping riders stay on course at all times. The large screen with high-contrast colour palettes delivers a rich map visual that is easy to quickly interpret while riding. Wahoo also eliminates long-standing frustrations related to loading, searching, and transferring routes, offering a seamless experience via its intuitive touchscreen and the new Wahoo app.
A Best-In-Class Screen: Small screens with low clarity cannot deliver the same experience as a smartphone, which is why ELEMNT ACE will have the largest screen size of any cycling computer on the market. Equipped with a 3.8in, 3:2 aspect screen, the ACE is made with a best-in-class transflective thin-film transistor (TFT) screen. The wider screen aspect ratio allows better peripheral vision on the map when navigating than traditional narrow screens. The high-DPI screen also has excellent anti-glare and anti-reflective properties offering crystal-clear visuals and superb readability in changeable outdoor conditions. The latest in screen technology also offers a near-unlimited colour palette, allowing for optimal background and font colour combinations to also aid in maximising readability.
30+ hour Battery Life: With powerful dual-band GPS tracking, real-time data and up to 30 hours of battery life, ELEMNT ACE is designed to keep riders connected and informed from start to finish.
Category FIRST – Integrated Wind Sensor: Aerodynamics play a critical role in cycling performance, yet until now, quantifying wind impact has been limited to expensive, complex, proprietary devices. For the first time ever Wahoo has incorporated a revolutionary pressure sensor into the ELEMNT ACE via a front-facing opening, enabling cyclists to measure the effects of air resistance in real time. The ELEMENT ACE gives riders real-time insight into their AeroBoost (when groundspeed is aided by tailwinds or drafting) and AeroDrag (when groundspeed is hindered by headwinds). These metrics can guide drafting positioning and quantify the sensation of wind felt by riders. Post-ride, ELEMNT ACE provides Wahoo Wind Dynamics™ (WWD) to the Wahoo App that can be used to analyse performance and to help understand wind speed and its impacts on performance. With ACE’s integrated wind sensor, Wahoo continues to increase value for consumers by making this crucial data accessible to riders at a reduced cost. This innovative addition opens the door to a whole new world of insights, previously unseen in the cycling computer market.
Improved User Experience: Cycling computers are typically tricky to navigate and interact with. Common functions are often nested within complex menu trees and core actions require unnecessary rider inputs. To help combat these common pain points, for the first time in Wahoo’s history the ELEMNT ACE takes advantage of touchscreen technology, but takes it to the next level. The ACE has a responsive screen that works even with non-touch-enabled gloves and in wet conditions too for effortless interaction in diverse terrain and conditions. Physical buttons are still included for added safety and versatility, ensuring riders are offered the best of both worlds. The interface is sleek and intuitive, building on Wahoo’s legacy of making products that are easy to use. Ensuring the ACE remains easy to navigate Wahoo has introduced quick swipe dashboards and streamlined menus that eliminate unnecessary steps, minimising customer inputs and delivering a faster, smoother in-ride experience. Additionally, ELEMNT ACE arrives with a premium aluminium mount, plus tether included, to complete a high value consumer package.
Easier and more Intuitive Setup and Sync via the Wahoo App: ELEMNT ACE will be the first of Wahoo ELEMNT bike computer range to set up and sync via the cloud-based Wahoo App, where the functionality, speed, and utility will be greatly increased. Being cloud-based, this makes for a seamless, simple and intuitive user experience – with changes made in the Wahoo app, will automatically upload to the ELEMNT ACE when in use. In addition, all settings that are stored in the cloud can be used across Wahoo devices for riders with multiple Wahoo bike computers. Leveraging the Wahoo App in this way, riders can enjoy a new, intuitive and streamlined user experience that continues to set Wahoo apart. ELEMNT ACE is the first device in the Wahoo portfolio to support Workout Profiles which enable users to configure unique screens for each type of cycling, such as gravel riding, road riding, and mountain biking. ACE also seamlessly syncs with other Wahoo ecosystem products, including the newly released TRACKR HEART RATE, providing a fully connected and optimised cycling experience.
Gareth Joyce, CEO of Wahoo said “We are thrilled to be launching this next generation of cycling computers and to be setting the standard in what consumers expect. The expectations and demands of our customers have changed dramatically since our first bike computer launched back in 2015. Our rider-centric approach to the development of the ELEMNT ACE ensures that it’s a cycling computer that stands up to the expectations of the modern cyclist. This is a huge development and a step forward for the bike computer category.”
