GIRO LAUNCHES INNOVATIVE RIDE APPAREL COLLECTION

High performance, sustainable MTB apparel that works on and off the bike

Giro Sport Design, the cycling world’s design leader, today announced the release of their Ride apparel collection. The Ride collection is an exciting new expansion of their mountain bike apparel lineup, combining comfort, performance and durability with versatile styling that can seamlessly transition to off-the-bike life. Crafted with Renew Series™ recycled nylon and polyester, Ride apparel strategically employs materials like 4-way stretch Havoc Durablend and drirelease® merino/polyester blend with patterns that
emphasize versatility for clothing that looks good and feels great anywhere on the mountain.
Giro Ride jerseys and shorts are available immediately from authorized Giro retailers and
www.giro.com .

Giro Renew Series products are made with recycled nylon, polyester, elastane and Econyl®
Lycra® made from reclaimed fishing nets and other ocean debris. At least 50% of the finished
product must use fabrics and materials with recycled content to earn the Renew Series
designation. 54% of Giro’s entire apparel line uses recycled materials, and 55% is using
bluesign® approved materials. Giro is also moving away from using long-chain DWR coatings in
weather-resistant products where possible, changing to new PFC-free coatings which have a
much lower impact on the planet.

“Ride apparel is the result of years of iterative design and continual real-world testing, meeting
the demands of riders and introducing new choices in silhouettes that work well both on and
off the bike,” said Giro’s Apparel Product Manager Margaux Elliot who is also leading the
brand’s sustainability initiatives. “Ride apparel delivers the fit, function, and style that are
always top priorities for Giro apparel, while aligning our goals as we strive for continual progress
in sustainability. As part of the Renew Series, the fabrics used on these styles use recycled
materials, and I’m proud of the major step Ride apparel represents in our journey toward
reducing our impact on the planet without sacrificing performance or durability.”

The Ride Short starts with Giro’s Havoc Durablend material, featuring 4-way stretch for all day
comfort combined with the durability of nylon. This material is now made of recycled nylon as
part of our Renew Series, the first mountain bike short to be part of this sustainable collection.
The inseam is 4” shorter than the Havoc Short, making it more versatile, less baggy and great for
warmer weather or riding without knee pads. Adding to the more versatile style, the Ride Short
also has 2 back pockets, including one with a zipper closure, in addition to standard hand
pockets and secure side zipper pocket. The increased secure storage capacity lets this short
transition easily from trail to tailgate and beyond.

The Ride Jersey starts with our drirelease® merino/polyester blend fabric. This fabric combines
the permanent wicking performance of drirelease® with the comfort of merino and the fastdrying
properties of polyester. The polyester is recycled, making this style a new addition to our
Renew Series sustainable collection, along with the Venture Jersey. The Ride jersey features 3
back pockets plus a secure zip storage pocket, so riders can carry tools, extra layers and plenty
of snacks or whatever else they need for 2 wheeled adventures. The added reflective trim helps
riders to stay visible when those adventures include time spent on the road or in the city.
