I have known about Camelbak products for a few years now, especially since I have been focusing more on mountain biking. When I was offered the chance to test a bag from this renowned brand, I was more than delighted, as I consider their products to be of the highest quality. I didn’t try out a bike bag, but a more travel-type pack. It is the Adventure Travel Pack 26 and here are my impressions of it.
About Camelbak
Founded in 1989 by cyclist Michael Eidson, the company has over the years developed a range of innovative products and outdoor accessories such as water bags, water bottles, packs, belts, etc. Committed to the environment, Camelbak uses recycled materials and contributes to the reduction of plastic waste. In addition, the company is involved with organizations such as the POW (Protect Our Winters), which fights climate change.
About the A.T.P. 26
The Adventure Travel Pack 26 is incredibly versatile. An ideal travel companion thanks to its multiple compartments and advantages (see description below). It can also be used as a hiking bag or for any adventure, in town or in nature. Here’s a look at its distinctive features:
The A.T.P. is built from ultra-tough, 100% recycled CORDURA re/cor™ and high-tenacity nylon yarn. Camelbak considers this to be their strongest and most sustainable pack yet.
- It has a storage capacity of 26 liters, but can be expanded to 30 liters thanks to its top-loading main compartment with a central zipper. Here its dimension: 19.69 x 14.17 x 8.27 in / 50 x 36 x 21 cm.
As mentioned above, this bag has a number of pockets and compartments, each as practical as the next:
- To start, there’s the 26-liter main pocket.
- There are also two side pockets, one expandable (for a water bottle or insulated mug, for example) and one containing a small key-clip, as well as small storage compartments.
- On top of the bag, there’s a small lined pocket designed for sunglasses.
- Inside, there are a number of pockets, but one of the most interesting features is the removable laptop sleeve. It is a removable padded internal laptop sleeve and it fits most laptops 15″ and under. I got a Windows Surface, and it fits perfectly inside. I can also add my tablet and many little accessories. Perfect for remote work or when I want to write articles for the magazine during my travels!
- On the back, there’s a large pocket for a hydration reservoir. The bag’s shoulder straps feature small fixed straps to secure our water bag’s straw. In addition, on the back, there is a luggage passthrough; which means you can easily slide over the handle of your roller bag when you are traveling.
The shoulder straps are adjustable at the bottom and feature several Hypalon attachment points for hooking up accessories as needed (with carabiners, for example). There’s an adjustment strap at chest level. One thing I find slightly annoying is there is no waist belt. I love to secure and adjust my bag at the waist. But it is not a big deal. The rest of the adjustment is very friendly and comfortable.
The back of the A.T.P. is quite rigid. It offers good back support. Once you properly adjust to your preferences, it is very comfortable and supportive. I’ve used it for short hikes and for walking in town. Throughout my outings I found it very comfortable to wear, with little or a lot of equipment in it!
To conclude
I think this product is particularly fantastic. Firstly, the look of the Adventure Travel Pack 26 is modern, I think it is really beautiful and stylish. I am sure it will be very durable over time and will be able to keep it in good condition for several years. The material seems really solid and resistant. I don’t think it will wear out quickly. With all its conveniences, this bag is practical and can be used in various contexts. The A.T.P. is an excellent choice for environmentally conscious travelers and adventurers. It is available in two colors: black and undyed. Undying is more like a white color. It’s also more environmentally friendly than the black one, as the process reduces water and energy consumption. I 100% recommend this backpack from Camelbak.
