I now have a few Cotopaxi pieces home and I won’t lie that I like their products. So when they reached out to test their Fuego hooded down jacket, I could not be more excited.
About Cotopaxi
Davis Smith grew up throughout Latin America, where he saw first-hand the hardship resulting from unequal access to opportunity. He has since dedicated himself to using business as a force for good in order to address the inequality he witnessed during his childhood.
The Mountain
One of the world’s highest active volcanoes, Cotopaxi (koh-toh-PAHK-see) in Ecuador had a major presence in Davis’s life—even his school was named for it. The mountain’s glacial streams, wild llamas, and countless trails instilled in him the spirit of adventure and gratitude that eventually inspired him to found Cotopaxi the company.

All of their down is responsibly sourced and processed in partnership with ALLIED Feather + Down, which has a transparent, audited, and certified supply chain. This ensures that 100% of the down they procure comes solely as a byproduct of the food industry and exceeds animal welfare best practices for ducks and geese.
ALLIED’s proprietary environmentally friendly processing also creates a high-performing insulation that provides warmth and comfort that lasts decades with minimized impact on the planet.
Testing
The testing occurred over multiple months from fall, winter and early spring. The jacket is super light, packable, really warm and comfortable. It is perfect when I am snowshoeing or ski hoc to when it gets colder or when I am too wet to only wear my polar fleece, I can unpack it and put it on me. Since it is also water resistant, no need to bring a windbreaker too.
I suggest you try it on before you buy size since I am generally a medium and I wear a size small in this jacket.
In conclusion
Cotopaxi is renowned for its exceptional product line, and the Fuego hooded down jacket lives up to this reputation. Whether you’re embarking on a hiking adventure, camping trip, or simply going about your daily routine, it serves as the ideal companion.
