The first time I saw Cotopaxi in a store I was immediately fascinated by that brand and bought a few pieces. Since then, they ask us to review their products.
About Cotopaxi
Adventure inspires them to see the world and make it better. That’s why they build gear that fuels both outdoor experiences and global change. To achieve their mission, we dedicate at least 1% of our revenue to nonprofits that help communities experiencing poverty.
Gear for Good®
Their Gear for Good® promise is to make durable gear as ethically and sustainably as possible, and to use their company as a way to support communities in need.
Reduce Inequality
They focus on empowering communities in Latin America through health care, education, and livelihood. They allocate 1% of our revenue to the Cotopaxi Foundation, which supports nonprofits, including the International Rescue Committee (IRC) and United to Beat Malaria. To ensure their giving is effective, they use double-blind studies and proven methodologies.
The Mountain
One of the world’s highest active volcanoes, Cotopaxi (koh-toh-PAHK-see) in Ecuador had a major presence in Davis’s life—even his school was named for it. The mountain’s glacial streams, wild llamas, and countless trails instilled in him the spirit of adventure and gratitude that eventually inspired him to found Cotopaxi the company.
The Fuego down vest
Blending responsibly sourced down with a streamlined design, the Fuego Down Vest is the perfect outer layer and midlayer in one. We love it for those in-between weather days that don’t quite warrant a jacket, and it’s also great as a core-warming layer under a shell for skiing.
Features:
-Water-resistant fabric
-Updated fit for improved comfort and range of motion
-Elastic binding at armholes
-1 interior stash pocket
-Zippered hand pockets
-Packs into internal pocket
-Adjustable drawcord waist
-Shell & lining: 100% 20D ripstop nylon with DWR finish
-Insulation: 800-fill responsibly sourced down
-Weight: 14oz (397g)
Testing
The testing occurred on multiple seasons and temperatures. The size guide on their website is on point and reflects the sizes I normally wear. The jacket has a nice fit and is not too puffy like other brands. Being easily packable, the Fuego down vest is very easy to carry in your bag in case it gets chiller during your activities and is really warm with the down it has inside.
In conclusion
Coupled with the Abrazo Half-Zip Fleece Jacket and a base layer, the Fuego down vest is a great and versatile piece that you need in your wardrobe. At a price of 185.00$ cad I recommend this product.
