This summer, I had the chance to try out a few products from the renowned Fjällräven brand. One of the products I got to try out was the beautiful Kajka backpack. It’s an advanced hiking companion, appreciated by outdoor enthusiasts the world over. Whether you’re off for a day’s trekking or a longer adventure, the Kajka 35 is designed to focus on your needs for durability, functionality and comfort. Here is what I have to say on it.
About Fjällräven
Fjällräven represents a Swedish brand of hiking clothing and equipment. It was founded in 1960 by Åke Nordin. The Fjällräven story began in 1950, when 14-year-old Åke Nordin from Örnsköldsvik in northern Sweden was about to go hiking in the mountains. The company stands out for its commitment to sustainability, functionality and quality. Fjällräven strives to develop sustainable and environmentally friendly products. Their clothing and equipment are designed to last and withstand harsh conditions.
The Kajka 35L
Here’s what makes the Kajka 35 such an exceptional choice:
1. The FSC-certified wood frame: One of the reasons for the Kajka’s success is its FSC-certified birch wood frame. This robust structure, combined with the easily adjustable back length, enables the backpack to transport heavy loads without compromising your comfort. You can see the wooden structure on the back of the bag. It also adds much style. I particularly like its rustic, military look.
2. They use resistant materials: The Kajka is made from durable fabric, with recycled nylon reinforcement. It’s designed to withstand harsh conditions and last the test of time. Fjällräven products are not entry-level. It’s accurate, the price of their equipment is high. However, they exclusively use great quality materials and retain an ergonomic and durable design.
3. There is a spacious main compartment: The Kajka’s main compartment opens completely at the front, providing a clear view of the contents. You can easily organize your belongings and access everything you need. They named it Kajka 35 as it has a 35-litre capacity.
4. This backpack has a versatile top flap: The bag’s top flap features three zipped pockets. It can be detached and used as a practical shoulder bag for brief excursions.
5. The buckles and straps: The Kajka is equipped with side buckles for attaching additional pockets. In the front of the bag, when you need it, you can easily attach hiking poles or ice axes. Compression straps ensure even load distribution.
6. The ergonomic comfort: Prevent back pain with the ergonomic shoulder straps, and waist belt with pocket add to the Kajka’s comfort. Honestly, I find the Kajka 35 one of the most comfortable bags I’ve ever carried. Over the years I’ve had several different bags, for different uses. Well-known and reputable brands. But Fjällräven’s Kajka is exceptional. Comfort guaranteed. I haven’t had the chance to test it over an extended period of time. But every time I went out with it, I found it so comfortable to wear!
To conclude
I’m convinced that for a future project, spread over several days, the Kajka 35 will fulfill and exceed my expectations. Whether you’re an avid hiker or an occasional traveler, Fjällräven’s Kajka backpack remains an excellent choice. Of all the hiking packs I own, this is the one I choose first. Its combination of durability, functionality and comfort makes it a reliable companion for all your outdoor adventures. Therefore, pack your bag and set off to discover the great outdoors!
