CAMELBAK TRAIL RUN VEST REVIEW

2023 was my first year trail running season and at the same time I wanted to test gear with that point of view. This is when Camelbak sent me their Trail run vest.

About Camelbak

Bicycle enthusiast Michael Eidson was competing in the “Hotter’N Hell 100,and that’s exactly what it is to this day: a 100-mile road race, over four days in the grueling summer heat of Wichita Falls, Texas. Water is vital to surviving the race, but there are few places to refill, let alone time to stop. An emergency medical technician by trade, Eidson came up with a solution on the fly: he filled an IV bag with water, slipped it into a white tube sock (yes, an actual tube sock), and stuffed the whole contraption into the back of his bike jersey. He then threw the hose over his shoulder and clamped it shut with a clothespin. Hands-free hydration was born. And CamelBak was created to pursue it.

The trail run vest

Trail-stomping runners know one thing: it’s never enough to just run. You need to push yourself to new heights and explore uncharted territories. You need to layer up and prepare for long and winding journeys. You need to get out and explore.

You’re why we made the Trail Run™ Vest. It’s light, breathable, and ready to [securely] hold everything you need for your next run. From quick access to your phone and water to storage for your gear and snacks, our Trail Run™ Vest is the ultimate companion for all of your running adventures. You can also feel safe and comfortable thanks to added ventilation, reflective accents, and a safety whistle.

Whether you’re new to trail running or a seasoned pro, Trail Run™ Vest is designed to make sure you enjoy the best parts of your run, no matter where you are on your adventure.

Features

-3D Vent Mesh: Engineered to maximize airflow and comfort throughout your run.

-Secure Phone Pocket: Keep your phone close to the vest and close to you with our easy-to-access phone pocket.

-Dual Adjustable Chest Straps: For an easily customizable fit, ensuring all day comfort.

-Stretch Overflow Pockets: Perfect for any extras you may need on your journey.

-Fuel and Gear Storage: Just enough room for all of your snacks, water, and running gear.

-Trekking Pole Attachment: Keeping your trekking poles secure and close at hand for when you need to steady your feet.

-Reflectivity: Various points of intentional, highly-visible reflectivity to keep you safe on your run as the sun goes down.

-Safety Whistle: On the trails you are our number one concern. The safety whistle is perfect for alerting people you’re near or calling for help.

-Tube Trap: Allows you to grab the hydration tube without having to unbuckle or unhook, for easy, on the go hydration.

-Ultralight Materials: This means “no unnecessary baggage” for your trek, so you can run all day in comfort.

The testing

It occurred during the whole summer and I am used to having a water bladder on my back while cycling, I had high expectations about this product and it delivered flawlessly. Comfortable, minimalist and has the right amount of space for snacks and other small items. I don’t use trekking poles but the attachments are well placed and practical. I was comfortable with it and the 17 on flasks are just perfect in terms of size. I only wished they were making an all black version since I am not a fan of the yellow color on it.

For 159,99$ cad I am recommending without a doubt the Camelbak trail run vest.

Ever since he can remember he was riding bikes not being attracted to video games. In his teenage years he was racing bikes until he had a big accident that slowed him down and at a certain point he stopped riding. It is few years later that came he back on a bike and got the ‘’bug’’ again to be more serious about it and started a bike related blog. It is after a trip during covid that he realized that it would be great to talk about all his outdoor passions but with the perspective to inform the regular non technical people. This is how Allday magazine was born.
