When it comes to choosing hiking boots, I’m demanding. I need a model that combines comfort, stability and durability, without sacrificing lightness. Having tested the Salomon X Ultra 5 Mid Gore-Tex on a few hikes, I can say that they meet these criteria with flying colors. Here is what I want to share about this pair of boots.

The X Ultra 5 Mid

The Salomon X Ultra 5 Mid Gore-Tex are designed for optimum stability and grip on all types of terrain. They feature Advanced Chassis technology for excellent lateral support without restricting freedom of movement. The Contagrip All Terrain outsole guarantees effective traction, even on slippery or uneven surfaces.
The upper is made from Matryxยฎ, a tough, abrasion-resistant material reinforced with a Gore-Tex membrane for total waterproofing and breathability. Weighing just 390 g, these shoes remain lightweight despite their reinforced protection.
The testing
I had the opportunity to test these boots on various types of hikes: forest trails, rocky mountain terrain, the Utah desert and even in a river at Red Rock Canyon in Alberta. On every outing, they proved their effectiveness in terms of comfort and support.
What impressed me most was their adaptability. No matter what the terrain, they always offered excellent grip, enabling me to walk with confidence, even on technical descents. The Contagrip All Terrain is a real asset. Whether on rocky, muddy or wet trails, the sole grips perfectly. Thanks to their ergonomic cushioning, I never felt any discomfort, even after hours of walking. Unfortunately, I often get heel blisters. Here, there’s no foot pain, no annoying rubbing. Just a pleasant feeling of security and support.
With the Gore-Tex membrane, my feet stayed dry despite puddles and soggy trails. Of course, after walking for several hours in the river at Red Rock, my boots were very soggy. However, I was pleasantly surprised to see that they dried very quickly. Ready to follow me on my adventures again.
To conclude
I can say that the Salomon X Ultra 5 Mid GORE-TEX Boots for Women are an ideal choice for hikers looking for a compromise between lightness, protection and grip. Their immediate comfort, reliability on all types of terrain and excellent waterproofing make them a real ally for long days out. They’ve become an essential part of my equipment, and I recommend them without hesitation!
