What is SG1?

SG1 represents the toughest and most durable protection technology ever to be paired with WTB’s iconic Trail Boss, Vigilante, Judge and Verdict treads. Therefore taking the proven dual-ply ‘Tough’ option to an entirely new level.

Under Tread Protection and 3x More bead protection

Added under tread puncture protection runs beneath the entire tread cap making the tire more resilient against sharp objects lurking in the dirt. However, the fortification does not stop there. With a clear goal of strengthening the most vulnerable areas of a tire, WTB has introduced their new IP+ technology, tripling the height of it’s apex bead protection for SG1. This enhancement not only shields the tire bead from damage, but also significantly bolsters the sidewall structure.

Compound Updates

After years of development and numerous revisions, WTB has also updated both Fast Rolling and High Grip compounds to not only increase tread longevity, but also improve grip at the same time. Especially in wet conditions. These advancements have been achieved by optimizing the natural vs. synthetic rubber ratios and fine-tuning the balance between carbon black and other reinforcing agents within the compound itself. The re-balancing of rubber results in compounds that are less slippery when exposed to moisture – exactly where you need that extra bite. The change in carbon black to reinforcing agents ratio allows for increased durability and resistance to wear, resulting in longer lasting tires that grip harder and puncture less.
Pair that with a reduction in carbon black & a boost in silica levels, and you get increased durability and resistance to wear, resulting in longer lasting tires that grip harder and puncture less.

SG1 tires feature our TriTec compound, which combines the strategically placed characteristics of three different rubber compounds within the tread of a single tire. This allows for firmer rubber where efficiency and longevity is key, and softer rubber where traction takes priority.
