When I go to different Facebook groups, one brand comes back often and its PNW components. The people look so happy about their product and it really shows by how they talk about it. It did not take long for me to reach out and ask them to test their products for our 2024 fat bike project.
About PNW components
The short story: They hate how expensive bike parts are. That’s why they started PNW Components. Their team has decades of experience working for top bike brands in the industry, fostering strong relationships with leading manufacturers and working at the forefront of what’s new in the bike world. What this means for you is a top performing product at a fraction of the cost.
The other part of the story: They want you to love riding your bike. Part of that means that their relationship with you doesn’t just stop when you buy a product. They’re dedicated to being your digital trail buddy and that’s part of the reason they back up all their products with an industry leading lifetime warranty. By keeping overhead costs low, working directly with manufacturers and focusing on engineering products that deliver exactly what customers want, they’re able to save you money and ultimately have it stay in your wallet for more important things like post ride burritos.
The Range handlebar gen 3
The Range Handlebar Gen 3 remains hyper-focused on ergonomics and comfort, adding a 35mm diameter option and a standard 800mm width across both sizes. With the industry continually trending towards frames with longer reach, the Range minimizes back discomfort and wrist fatigue to keep you comfy on long climbs and descents.
I decided to go with the 35 mm since I was curious about the comfort of a bigger diameter handlebar and to my surprise it was pretty good. You have to keep in mind that I have tested the handlebar on my fat bike during winter. The finish of the product is flawless and the weight is quite remarkable. This can be explained by PNW using 2014 aluminum because it most closely resembles carbon’s chatter absorption. The 10 degree back sweep, 5 degree upsweep and the 30 mm rise gives a good upright position that most likely is more comfortable.
The Range stem gen 3
The new Range Stem is no laughing matter. The ground-up redesign features a fully CNC’d body, machined from 6061 aluminum. It also dropped the quarantine weight by as much as 40 grams.
The finish is quite amazing and it even comes with a detachable aluminum mount compatible with Go pros and many headlamp options. With a stack height of 38 mm it is in my opinion simply perfect.
The Loam grips
Get A Grip. We can’t promise to keep your hands warm as the seasons change, but we can keep your paws feeling fresh with our customer loved Loam Grip. We packed this grip full of features, like an ultra tacky compound and ergonomic pattern to support your palms and help relieve any fatigue caused by trail chatter and long days in the saddle. The OG colors of the rainbow are also available in our Loam Grip XL, which gives the right amount of comfort for the rider who prefers a beefier grip.
The grips are comfortable and grippy even with thicker winter gloves. I tried with my mountain bike gloves and wow they really get a grip. The compound even in minus 20 celsius temperature don’t get hard.
In conclusion
I understand better why clients are satisfied with the PNW components products. With prices to not break the bank and the high quality of their products, it is simply a no brainer. I will definitely equip my other bikes with their components.
